Here are a couple of examples of driftwood. On the left is a mirror, decorated with specially selected sticks. The other is a piece artfully photographed to resemble Durdle's Door or some such geological feature.
In the Lincolnshire countryside you may come across a signpost, amended by some wag to read thus: 'To Old Bolingbroke and Mavis Enderby, the gift of a son.'
